Bettie

No other name is more synonymous with the American PinUp than Bettie Page. From The Girl Next Door to the Dominating Fetish Queen and everything in between, Bettie Page was the master of the classic pinup look. She is even more popular now than in the '50's when she posed in thousands of seductive pinup photos.

Her website, BettiePage.com, has received 588 million hits in the last five years. Now a feature film will be coming out in April. 'The Notorious Bettie Page' is being produced by HBO Films and will star Gretchen Mol as Bettie.

One question immediately came to my mind while watching the teaser trailer: How many people have put two and two together and pictured Bettie's soft, sexy, southern voice in all those sensuous photo's?

gb: She is alive and doing well at 82 years of age. I read a recent interview with her and she is still on top of her game with no regrets.

I watched the trailer and her voice kind of threw me back for a minute. I love pin-up art. I think it's beautiful. But alot of Bettie's pic's are fetish and S&M. So I thought her voice would sound husky and German for sme reason.:)

She has a voice? That ruins everything...

She is very beautiful. I love the picture you used. She is so alluring without being slutty. You just want to reach out and touch that little fold on her left side.

ranea: It is rather disconcerting.

ozy: Trying to make up for being a softie on your site today?

wai: Thank you. It is a work done by John Hul from a famous Bettie photo. The interview that I read recently had Bettie explaining that there was nothing wrong with nudity that did not show it in a promiscuous manner. I beleive she had that look done pat.

She was so beautiful! One of my customers ( I sell Avon, typical housewife thing, helps the boredom, lol ) has some original prints of her. She ate right and excercised before it was the thing to do. She was very ahead of her time.

Glad we're moving away from the rail thin ladies again. Yeah! Makes my curves very happy!

Oh yeah, I love Bettie Page! HOT HOT HOT :-)

Didn't know that she was a southern belle, though! Cool :-)

When I was at that big tattoo expo in Detroit, I saw a lot of Bettie tats, she's a popular subject. Wouldn't mind one myself.. lol

mimi: That's cool. I would love to have one of those original prints. Maybe in another lifetime.

angel jr: All caps is right.

phoenix: And she did not even need implants.

green eyes: I am a big fan of both Bettie Page and the art of Gil Elvgren for that exact reason. I have always been a fan of curves.

laurie: I have been toying with the idea of the Bettie Page Mermaid. I think that I have posted the pic before. If not I will have to. It is tat worthy indeed. Since I have flames and a tribal sun on one arm, it would be a fine addition to the tsunami waves that I have on my other arm.

With all due respect to the late Marilyn Monroe, she had nothin' on Ms. Page.

I don't know of her Fuzz, but yes, you guessed it, I clicked on your link.....just for research purposes hehe.

I dunno her but yeah she sure looks great, especially cos she's curvy n fleshy...unlike the pencil-stick women these days who look like they need a large serving of steak...

I don't know why they didn't cast Dita von Teese as Bettie. Yup, Southern women-- gotta love em!

:P fuzzbox said...

bruce: I have to agree with you.

ben: Damn, it's good to hear from you bud!!! Good that I was able to expand your horizons.

keshi: I couldn't have said it better myself. And I am going to have to use more Bettie pics around here.

pf: Dita does have the look. Maybe Marilyn didn't want her to do it. Ain't it great how a good ole gal from Nashville, Tenn. turned the nation on it's ear and is still as popular today as ever.

I have never heard of her or looked at pictures of her before. Yeah, and pigs might fly.

I've always imagined her voice as a mixed Chinese-Irish accent. Not odd at all, is it?

mm: Hmm, out the wazoo?

david: You pictured her accent looking like your user pic? Just kidding :) Thanks for dropping in.

fuzz-I thought about adding the part about where they would fly out of, but just the thought made me crings so I left that part out.

:P fuzzbox said...

mm: If that makes you cringe, the summertime pic must have really done a number on you. :)

fuzz - you need to post pics of your tats! (or at least email them to me!) the Bettie mermaid would be awesome!!

Gretchen Mol is HOT. I actually recently mentioned her in a post about "replacement actors" over on my Wrandom Writings blog just last week.

:P fuzzbox said...

laurie: If I ever get around to replacing my digital camera. I will send you a pic.

perplexio: She does look good. I am looking forward to the flick.
