Kiss My Ass: Rockstar Supernova
I must admit that I am a big fan of the show 'Rockstar: Supernova.' The show has been filled with some really talented singers and only a few hacks. What pisses me off is the tracks by Stupernova. It seems that Stupernova has fallen into the same problems as most every stupergroup. Put three hard rockers from different bands and a fresh new artist and it should rule but that is only on paper. The reality falls far short of the promise.
The first stupergroup to hit my attention was Damn Yankees. Yeh, yeh, I heard a few groans there. I will admit that they had a few decent tunes but by and large the Damn Yankees were a damn crying ass shame, Uncle Ted and all.
The next to hit my sights were Van Hagar. Van Halen rocked, Sammy Hagar rocked, Van Hagar sucked shit through a fucking straw. Nuff said, Right Now.
The most recent group to hit my radar was the teaming of Rage Against The Machine and lead singer Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. It falls far short of Rage Against The Garden. There is no rage only sappy regurgitated crap.
So to all you hard rocking superstars, before you think that you are too big for your fucking group, take a good look at the ones that have decided to go supergroup. Odds are you will just turn out to be a super fucktard.

ohhhhh I love it when you say "fucktard"......;))
You can't make a cool group reincarnate, just be mixing up a few great individual rockers. Agreed on all counts - ESPECIALLY Van HAGAR. I loved Van Halen - and Sammy. But together... well, they sucked. Greed - pure greed wrecked a good thing.
I totally agree with you on the music. Who would've thought that guys from G n R, Motley Crue, and Metallica(and Jane's Addiction, if you throw in Dave Navarro) would sound more like Bon Jovi than anything else?
I have to totally agree with you on this post. I love the "fucktard" word. It really makes me giggle.
catch: It is one of my favorite words. I like to sprinkly it liberelly in my speech as needed for a daily boost.
terry: And the next installment with Charon was even worse.
bruce: And second rate Bon Jovi is just bad.
leigh: So many fucktards so little post space. Have a great day.
ben: Count yourself lucky. It sucked arse.
BTW, I must give credit to the line 'Nuff said, Right Now', to Angry Joyce. I had just Nuff Said. She added the Right Now. I think it adds a little sumthin sumthin to the flava. (I knew I shouldn't have watched Roll Bounce. Look at what it has done to my vocabulary.)
I'm with you on the Hagar thing.
Sammy was a mediocre solo artist, at best, but the chemistry with VH just lacked nads and vision.
Bottom line is that it's all about chemistry. Being in many bands over the years, I know all about chemistry.
That's a major reason why the "supergroup" actually becomes one...it's the right combination at the right time.
My opinion though.

I agree about Supernova. Not one of their original songs have peaked my interest. I do have to say that I like Audioslave though. And the only song I liked by Damn Yankees was Coming of Age.
Two rights can make a wrong.
Like Mimi, I will just take your word for it.
You are ''alomost'' never wrong.
Fuzz, youll never go wrong taking Angry Joyce's advice!
Yep, Yep and Yep! No disagreements here!
This Does happen Alot! One Person always thinks that they are it, go off on their own, and Everyone Fails.
Well said my friend!
:)
I've never seen the show so I'll take your word for it too. But I was wondering...maybe the reason the supernova thing doesn't work is because they are taking stars from their own groups and putting them with other stars. could be too many egos for one group? just a thought. And yeah for Angry Joyce.
WC
Oooooooh fuck.
Never loved Sammy solo.
But I am among the alleged "few" who loved Van Halen AND Van Hagar. Sammy had a different style and voice than Diamond Dave. So be it. The base of the group was the same. Times changed, the type of music changed, and VH changed with it. I guess I like sucking shit throught a fucking straw.
Ew! No I don't!
But Van Hagar? FUCKING ROCKED. Memories....
Van WHO?
Keshi.
michael: Sammy was probably best when he was with Montrose but I loved 'Standing Hampton'. I have to admire an album named after a hard on.
You are right about the chemistry. It is fairly elusive and when it is too manufactored it will not work.
mike: To me Audioslave is just not memorable. It sounds okay to me while I am listening to it but five minutes later I cannot remember a damn thing about their tunes.
mimi: Thank you. I appreciate that.
phred: It happens more often than I care to admit.
paige: I haven't listened to that much Alter Bridge but I must admit that Creed is a guilty pleasure. I saw them in concert a few years ago and was impressed with their live show as well.
catch: She frequently tells me to fuck myself. I guess I should take her advice more often. :)
green eyes: Thanks. You rock!!!
starbender: It looks like these guys would start buying a clue before the run off and shoot themselves in the foot like they do.
writer chick: You could be right about the egos. Supernova seems more interested in trying to out pose each other than actually coming up with a cohesive sound.
andie: To each their own I suppose. I was wondering just who bought that OU812 album.
I am SO addicted to Rockstar Supernova. Supernova needs some better songs though. I have been less than impressed when they perform cause the songs kinda suck.
Supergroups, hmmm. Asia had some decent stuff, and I liked GTR. I guess these days, the best woudl be Velvet Revolver.

I don't actually mind audioslave but i sure as hell liked Rage Against the Machine a whole lot more.
The ego thing is a good point...
I love Dave Navarro; I think he's a very underrated guitarist, but between him and Tommy Lee, there's enough ego to fill a stadium. One of the reasons Jason Newsted left Metallica was that his strong personality clashed with the uber-control freaks James and Lars, so there's a lot of ego there, as well. That leaves Clarke as the 5th wheel and I think he's trying to prove that he's more than just an accessory in the band here.
I don't watch this show! I have seen a few minutes of it because it comes on after big brother, but never caught and held my interest.
I was sad to see Janelle go, 3rd again damn it! I think she might win the jury money though. I think Boogie wins 6-1
lisa: I will be glad when Dilana gets voted out. She deserves a solo career as does Storm.
david: But they are more velvet than revolver eventhough they are the best of the lot.
johnny: That's me. Rages music was not only kick ass but it meant something. Audioslave doesn't have the same feel on either of those counts.
bruce: What gets me about Clarke is that he is the most pompous sounding of them even as he is the one that most people have never heard of.
phats: Erica might get two votes but that would be about it. Who you voting for in the cash giveaway? In my opinion Will deserves it. He led the entire house by the nose the entire season.
I've tried to watch this show, but just couldn't get interested....
So I'll just take your work for it! ;-)
I am not voting because I am a cheap bastard :) haha
I'd vote twice once for Janelle kicked ass in the comps, and once for will ran the house
It's kind of like cartoon-crossovers (read "Jetsons meet the Flintstones"). It's never a good idea.
big pissy: That's cool.
phats: You are right Janelle did kick ass in the comps. But I wonder how Will could have done if he wouldn't have thrown them all. In the end though they both ended up in the jury house.
laurie: To each their own.
gerald: You are right except for one glaring exception. Scooby Doo and The Harlem Globetrotters. My exception to the stupergroups would be The Traveling Wilburys.
last great music was in the mid to late 70's..after that it pretty much sucks.
The most successful/best supergroup imho was Bad Company.
Paul Rodgers & Simon Kirke from Free
Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople
Boz Burrell from King Crimson
And the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.
Rodgers next attempt at a supergroup-- The Firm (with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin) didn't pan out anywhere near as well as Bad Company and that was a cryin' shame considering the vocal prowess of Rodgers and Page's blistering guitar work.
granny: I don't know. I liked the music of the late 70's but I am a big fan of 80's metal and current alt. Some grunge was okay. I am fairly eclectic with my music tastes. Except Rap.
perplexio: You are right Bad Co. was a great group and Rodgers ain't doing half bad with Queen. Another group that worked with a hodgepodge of musicians was Rainbow. But these are examples that make the rule.
I am so bummed about them picking Lucas over Dilana! But, I think in the long run Dilana will be the true winner. And I LOVED that Gilby offered to produce her record.
