Hooray Breakfast

I have a rare Sunday off this week. I was able to indulge in one of my favorite activities; Breakfast. On workdays, I generally don't have time to stop for breakfast. I grab a honey bun, pop-tart, or granola bar and crunch it down on my way to work.

This morning, I was able to brew up a pot of coffee, scramble some eggs, fry up some hash browns and bacon, and flip some hot cakes. By the time the coffee was brewing, the boy was up ready to drink coffee and keep me company while I was whipping up breakfast. By the time the bacon had crisped, Angry Joyce was up in a better humor than usual. I guess the smell of bacon frying soothes the savage beast. And when it was done, I woke up the girl. ( Teens have to be firebombed out of bed. The smell of breakfast doesn't register for shit during their morning slumbers. )

Sitting here full and content I have to admit that all in all it was a great breakfast. Although I enjoy cooking breakfast, there is something to be said for going to a good roadside diner and ordering up breakfast. There is no more simple pleasure that can kickstart your day going like a good cup of coffee, chicken fried steak and eggs, and bullshitting with a quick witted waitress. I think that is what I need to do tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow will come soon.

I love breakfast if someone else cooks it. There is just something about cooking as soon as I get out of bed that I dont like. And I love steak, but I have never in my life eaten steak and eggs together! lol. I know a lot of people do. But my favorite breakfast meat is ham. Mmm scrambled eggs, hash browns and fried ham. Now thats a breakfast!

MMMMM....I'm starving. Thanks a lot Fuzz.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day....especially when you wake up to someone else cooking it for you! :-)

I can't remember the last time I actually ate a "real" breakfast, or breakfast, period. I'm just not hungry in the morning.

ben: Over here it is the Britney - K-Fed tragedy. Sad that in the world this crap passes as news.

jim: Fair to tolerable.

keshi: It was just about a brinner. (The breakfast to dinner three way combo meal.)

angel, jr: It starts off the day right. My granny always cooked a big Sunday breakfast so that she wouldn't have to worry about a big lunch after church. I guess the idea of a big Sunday breakfast just stuck with me.

ol' lady: I wouldn't get much done except laying around if I made big breakfasts a habit. I like to take my Sunday afternoon nap while watching football to make it a perfect day.

starbender: Gotta have the pancakes.

big pissy: I think that is why Angry Joyce enjoys it soo much.

catch: I am not much on ham unless it is in an omelette. Then it is good good stuff.

phats: Then that would make it a helluva brinner.

foundme: Dang that sounds good.

phlegmmy: Yeppers, it is the epitome of roadside eating.

lisa: Thanks!!!

curare: If I want breakfast, I am the one cooking. To say that Angry Joyce is not a morning person is a gross understatement.

bruce: I think the breakfast's of my early adulthood was the best. That was because I was still up and needed some good old grease in the gut before going to sleep. It helped prevent some of the harsher symptoms of a hangover.

Yeah yeah, I'm late.

Next time you make breakfast I'm coming over. Bacon...mmm....bacon and hashbrowns. Oh thank god...it's lunch.

I've always been a cereal girl. Hubs is more of a big breakfast guy. How we got together I'll never know.

Nothing was better than waking up to my Dad cooking some bacon!

I love breakfast for dinner! If you're a big tipper, I volunteer to be your quick witted waitress. I need a job.

jenna: Glad lunch came quick.

andie: I like cereal but I tend to go for the kiddie stuff. I love Cap'n Crunchberries. When they came up with Ooops All Berries, I was eating high on the hog.

erika: You are welcome.

green eyes: I could think of no better person for the job. Hope you find something soon.

Besides the hot waitress you probably talked to this morning, I think what makes a breakfast like that so good is that someone else is cooking it. Usually I have to make breakfast, but omg when Tarzan does & I wake up to the smell of bacon frying, it is wonderful! You're the 2nd person in like a week that's written about hot cakes..yum!

oh man, nothing better than a good diner breakfast on the weekend. I favor biscuits and gravy - some scrambled eggs and sausage. After I'm in filled to the gills, time for a nap. yummy.

wc: Gravy is a must although I have some horror stories about my first attempts at gravy making.

rocky jay: I don't know that I have ever come across a waitress of this magnitude. But I am always hoping.

mimi: I absolutely love breakfast for dinner. It was even more enjoyable back when I worked the night shift. Although people thought it strange when for what was their breakfast found me eating chili dogs in the morning.

pixie: The Waffle House rules. Best greasy breakfast in the world bar none.

granny: Wrights bacon is the best. I haven't seen it in a while but Wright's used to sell the ends and pieces in a big ass box. It was thick and made them perfect for making kick ass breakfast burritos.

paige: I will certainly check it out.
