I am sorry but I am just a little ambivalent over the latest Bobby Knight brouhaha. I have seen the video and I am sorry but it appears that it wasn't a violent slap but rather a little attention getter. I would be up in arms with the rest of the sports nation if it wasn't for the fact that the kid that received the pop and his parents all say that it is no big deal that it was nothing. I have always thought that no harm equals no foul. The only thing that gets me is the complete disregard that Bobby Knight always has had and always will have for every damned person on the face of the earth that does not bend over backwards to kiss his pompous ass.He knows that with his history, the eyes of the sporting world and many that do not care about sports at all, are planted firmly on him. Yet he continually goes out of the way to prove to his detractors that he is the ass that they paint him out to be. So maybe the little attention getting slap was no big deal but it is just one more incident in a long line of incidents. When they are added up all together it paints a picture of how a winning coach is not necessarily a winner.

Slapping that kid was way over the line. He needs to be fired.
I'm not too worried about this. Coaches left and right will get kids' attention by yelling, tugging shirts, raising chins, etc. If it weren't Bobby Knight, nobody would care. In this case, he's not asking anyone to kiss his ass ... he's just asking them to let him coach.
So I agree that Bobby should have known better. But what he did is not worth getting fired over--especially because the kid and his parents think it's just fine.

Knight doesn't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks, and that's his problem. He also He lives in his own world and just doesn't get it as a result.I don't like Knight at all, but this thing has been blown way out of proportion, IMO. Should he be disciplined? That's not up to me, and frankly I'm already tired of it. ESPN was all over this yesterday like a rabid dog on a bone, and acted like Knight had killed someone's dog.
I like Knight he is entertaining.
Some people want to be bigger than the game, and star of the show.
I wonder if he's one of them ?
I will say that Knight isn't in it so people will say, "My, what a nice guy."
Over the years, he's done what needed to be done to get the most out of his kids.
And although I don't agree with all of his antics, he's occasionally really fun to watch.
He strikes me as the Buddy Rich of college basketball.

The great-white-knight has an anger problem. That, and he is an ass. What was the kid suppose to do, he is thinking of his ball career. So he sucked it up. What team will want him if he is known as Bobbys bitch.

why do people put coaches up on pedastoles (sp)...most of them are assholes that couldnt play a game if you paid them. They cant play..so they coach.

Buddy Holley deserves an apology.
I absolutely 100% detest this man. He is a big baby, and when things don't go his way he pushes people around. Now that being said, I didn't think much of the incident, mostly because I have seen his past antics. Kicking his son, head butting a player, threatening to whip a player, and of course throwing a chair. While I can't stand him our rivalry is not nearly as fun without him. Although now we get to get to take down Sanctions Sampson!

This won't be a popular statement, but I think Knight should be banned from coaching at any educational institution. If he wants to coach the pros, fine. I'd like to see him try to slap one of them around..yeah, even "tap" them.
They've got their own set of rules for this obnoxious pompous jackass. They're sending a pretty fucked up message to the kids.
