Bluggin'

I have always wondered about the disparity between the number of hits that a blog receives versus the number of comments on any given day. I have come to the conclusion that there could be three main reasons that people stop by Blugstuff but do not comment. 1) Somehow they stumbled upon this blog and were bored or disinterested. 2) They really liked it but did not want to publicly display their love of such a warped mind . 3) They hated it with an all-consuming hatred. Akin to an ultra-liberal listening to Rush Limbaugh just to rid aggression by screaming and cursing at the radio.

I cannot do anything to remedy the first reason. I do not foresee a time in either the near or far future where my writing will change from Fuzzbox to Faulkner. However for the next two reasons, this post gave me the immediate answer.

So I placed a call to my intrepid web guru, Big D, and asked him to place a link to my Fuzzbox e-mail account inside my user profile. (Thanks Big D). I am truly hoping to hear from all of those Numbers Two's and Three's. I am hoping that perhaps I can get enough responses to have a weekly post responding to those anonymous people who write in. And be assured they will remain anonymous. I expect that I will get more responses from the number three people than the number two people so perhaps I could call it 'F**k Off Fuzz, Friday'.

So come on you haters and click on over there and spew a little venom on a twisted dwarf. And for those questionable individuals that actually like it here, it would make me feel like Sally Fields if you dropped me a line. 'You like me. You really like me.' Hey a dwarf can dream can't he.

I should have read that number 5 about loved ones.

Dude I have lurkers too. I guess people just like to read it and not comment. I personally get off on the comments, so I always find myself wanting them to write something. I guess it's a free country, though.

I don't get a chance to read that many blogs regularly, but I certainly try to read yours when I can. I don't always comment though.

Lurker here.

And I have my share of lurkers on my site. I keep a counter on my site that I can see how many hits I get. My own narcisistic tendancy.

But I'd never give the haters priority. It gives you wrinkles and grey hair.

Since I have been keeping track, I have had some 4,500 hits on my blog. Subsequently I can count on my fingers the number of people that have commented. I haven't nearly as nice of a blog as you, though. Fortunately I have two or three that visit often and say nice things to me so I don't feel so all alone. I do admit I am a poor commenter, or I should say comment leaver. I try not to be vacuous and redundant of other comments. More often than not, though, my social ineptitude gets in the way. Kind of like sitting at a bar I never know what to say and I’m more to the liking of letting people think I’m an idiot rather than speak and prove that I am…
I do link to you and visit often so I’ll try and be a better guest.

Lurkers? HOLY GOD do I have them.

Funny thing abotu site meter. I can see the "regulars who come in and never comment. Bothers the HELL out of me too. I want to hear from them. Maybe I will post my email....hrm....

I might get a better response if people know their comments will only be seen by me....

cd: The list was full of a lot of tidbits. It would have really helped to have read that six months ago when I started.

ben o: Isn't it strange how words take meaning? Lurkers brings up so many visuals. When I hear that term I think of some weird guy peering at the screen wearing dirty underwear and eating Cheetos.

siren: You are too kind. Sometimes after I reread my posts, I would like to send myself hate mail.

metal mark: That's cool. I sometimes visit sites and do not comment even I am at a loss for words at times.

jamie: Hey lurker good to see you come out of the shadows. And I shave my noggin so I am not worried about gray hairs at all. And I think hate mail would be a hoot.

ozy: You don't give yourself enough credit. You are a poet extradonaire. I will add you to my links and remedy the disservice to you of not linking back.

cissa: I am sure everyone has lurkers but I appreciate them. It is nice to know that someone is reading my drivel whether they comment or not. But I figure e-mail gives some of them a way to let me know what they think.

I like you, I really like you!

I'm guilty of just reading and not commenting. Sometimes I'm in the mood to talk, sometimes I'm not, but it is reaffirming to see those comments - even the brief ones. I suppose I'll try harder...

vic: You make me giddy as a little schoolgirl with your remarks. Thanks for popping in.

laurie: Luv you more. People who pop in but don't comment do not bother me at all. I just thought this would give an outlet and It would be nice to get more e-mails than just spam. Still waiting to hear back from those damned Nigerians.

breezy: LURKER. You have to admit it we are nearly family. I have been practicing on that jug.

breezy: I think that featuring your two jugs would be much more entertaining.

big d: You give me the warm fuzzies.

breezy: Sorry about that one but when you lob them over like that a person has to serve them back. Luv ya.

I like the way her jugs sound too!

keshi: I guess it hit a nerve but it is something that a lot of bloggers wonder about. I myself don't mind 'lurkers' at all. I just thought that this would give some people a way to comment in a more private setting.

Yeah my blog gets 500-600 visitors each day and I get like 3-10 comments. It's not a very good ratio to say the least.

:P fuzzbox said...

shay: I notice that you have a link to e-mail also. Do you get much response from that or do you think it is a waste of time to have it posted? Other than a few hate mail letters, not much is happening on mine.

Shay said...

I do get e-mail from time to time - that's where about half my reader questions come from and that's how I get the pictures for Wednesdays.

But I find that a lot of people ignore my sidebar - I sometimes get comments from people saying "shay! I want to send you an e-mail but can't find your addy *anywhere*!!"

:P fuzzbox said...

shay: I must admit that sometimes I am prone to not checking out the sidebar's of blogs very closely, but it seems strange that if a person was looking for an e-mail address that they would not look in the obvious spot. Laziness probably.
