Sometimes You Have To Stand For Something

Today I had the honor and privilege of standing with the Patriot Guard. Big D and I traveled to Lubbock, TX in support of a cause that both of us care deeply about. I posted about this cause earlier in this post. I had explained then that there was no way that I could stand idly by and let these religious nutjobs demean a hero who had gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.

Big D and myself stood with the riders at the funeral home while others were at the church. There were about ten of the Westborough wackos at the church but left early and did not come to the funeral home. The memorial service is tomorrow and my step-daughter and me will be there to stand again. It has been said that you have to stand for something or you will fall for anything.

I was proud of the many people that drove by and honked, waved flags, or cheered encouragement and blessings. I am most proud of these riders. Many traveled long distances in a short time to devote their time and effort to the most important of causes; the sanctity and dignity of another human being.

As the patch on one riders vest proudly stated, ' A nation which forgets it's defenders will also be forgotten. '

Click here for the yahoo news story.
Click here for a video that shows just how crazy these Westborough wackos are.
Click here for the home site of the Patriot Guard.
For those West Texas Readers and Bloggers the Patriot Guard and supporters will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Academy Parking Lot on 19th Street. Your support would be more than welcome.

I will be posting some pictures tomorrow when I get back at FuzzTexas. *** posted***

Keep up the good work, Fuzz. I'm proud to know someone like you.

I literally applauded when I read this. Stand tall, my friend...

I'm glad you are keeping the vigil as I go to work this morning.

You did an admirable thing Fuzz, and if I'd have been in Texas I would have been proud to stand next to you.

We worry about Religious Fundamentalists and Extremists such as Al Qaida etc. It seems to me like you've got a potentially dangerous one spreading hatred and lies, and their leader was that lady/man on that Fox News broadcast you posted.

Good for you and Big D Fuzz. The nutjobs need a swift beating. You're so right (from your previous post) that no matter what you think about the country and where it is headed....you have no right to disrespect the dead or their grieving family members. Free speech can FOAD in this case....

Mike said...

If I was in Texas, I'd be right there with you. If they want to protest, let them go to Washington and leave the family to mourn their loss in peace.

What has this world come to?
You are a great bunch of guys.My heart goes out to the family, and I am sorry that they have to deal with this at their sons funeral.
shame,shame, shame.

Well done Fuzz & Big D and all the Riders. *blows a kiss*

Those people are just disgraceful. No...not people... parasites. I cannot believe what this world is coming to. Sigh.

Green Eyes said...

I applaud you both as well. Fuzz, I'm thankful to know you.

JM said...

I can't stand people who disturb the sanctity of a funeral. And these people call themselves Christian?

Those people are disgraceful. There should be laws to protect the rights of the person people are supposed to be paying their rspects to!

Good on ya Fuzz & D

yellowdog granny: Thanks for popping in. I appreciate and will see you back at your place. If I am ever find myself in West Texas a real D.P. would sure hit the spot.

starbender: I hope the need never arises in your area but if it does I know that you will stand strong.

david: Thanks, but it seemed the least that I could do.

tubawench: Thanks a lot. Every once in a while I can be decent but I try not to make it a habit on most fronts.

bruce: I will. You can count on that.

big d: The wackos didn't show up today that I saw but it was a moving service and I am glad that I was there to play my small part.

ben: That same leader was in Lubbock last night but her small group was totally overwhelmed and left after but a very short time and were not able to spread their filth.

curare: You are right to everything there is a time and place. The right of a family to observe a memorial service in dignity is paramount over the right of anyone to spread their twisted beliefs.

mike: You are absolutely right. These soldiers are but doing their duty. The people on the hill are the ones to bring their complaints.

old fart's wife: It is a shame that these people are the way they are but it is better knowing that so many oppose them.

:P fuzzbox said...

jenna: It is very hard to call them people. You are right they are more like a parasite or a virus.

green eyes: I appreciate that but I only played a small part.

mimi: I know when the time and place comes for you to stand that you will. Bless you and your family.

angel, jr: It resembles nothing of the Christianity of people that can call themselves Christians. They are more like people worshiping a false idol of hatred and bigotry.

pixie: There are now laws backing these protesters up so that they can be no closer that 100 feet from the service. That is one step in the right direction.

siren: I feel the same way. And it is a small thing to do but it means a lot to these families. I have tremendous respect for these riders. They are truly making a difference.

Wow nice post today fuzz! those people are nutjobs glad you took a stand my friend. People should be allowed to morn their families without worrying about this shit.

Not to take this off subject, but I have a gut feeling janelle is going home this week :(

Sugar Daddy if I can do it, anyone can and I relly do mean that. Fuzz you should have posted your story here. It was good. I finally just wrote mine. Thanks for going with me again.

:P fuzzbox said...

phats: Thanks, I didn't do that much but sometimes many small things can add up. And on the BTW I wouldn't count her out yet.

sugar daddy: Your opinion always counts here. As the leader of the Patriot Guard stated to us, to acknowledge these people in their presence is a victory for them. We were all there for the family not for these uninvited guests. By peacefully deflating their purpose the mission was accomplished. And that is the purpose.

big d: Thanks, I am glad you liked the story over at OAA.

Right on, man! The patch's slogan says it all. ;)

You and Big D rock.

Way to go, Fuzz! I love that you did that. It gets me so mad that these idiots will use our fallen heroes to forward their own political aims. The irony is that it's this very type of whiney-ass jerks who scream the loudest when their civil rights are violated. And the ones, unfortunately, who need to be protected by our military the most. Personally, I'd like to see them go to Cuba or Venuzuela and protest at a military funeral. If they survived it, they'd be kissig the ground the minute they were on U.S. soil again.

So proud of you Fuzz and Big D!!!! Ol Man served for 32 yrs (Canada, retired) and we have seen alot of shit over the years. All those asses have the freedom to do what they are doing because of the men and women who have fought for their freedom!! And they are too fucking stupid to even realize it. I am very grateful to all the men and women who have given me my freedom. Thanks again guys for what you have done. Words can not express how it makes me feel, being the wife of a serviceman I have lived with terror in my heart many, many times and it feels good to know that there are people out there like you who support the men and women who have given us our freedom.

Right on, Fuzz!!! Hey, I am talking to your brother in the SB. Get your ass in here!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and your HOT sexy brother just told me you're his blog ho. Cuz he's pimpin your blog like crazzzzy!

Catch said...

Fuzz I am proud of you...and greatful there are many more men like you out there who will stand up for what they believe in. I thank you. God bless you.

This doesn't surprise me at all about you, Fuzz.
You strike me as the type of person that's passionate about many things.
Your personal integrity is shining.
As far as the Westborough Baptist Church, I understand that the organization is filled with many lawyers.
You hit them, they sue, they win.
It's basically constitutional bullshit run amuk.
I stand with you; they should all be drawn and quartered.

gerald: They are a great group of people doing a worthy deed.

phred: I wish you could have been there.

writer chick: I doubt they would ever see the light of day again. They would most likely be blasted to the hell that they proclaim for everyone else. When are you going to start a blog? I miss reading your stuff.

ol lady: I appreciate your old man and the sacrifices that you both have made. It is a small thing that I have done and a small thanks from one that is grateful to the many that have paid the price.

jane: I actually signed up for BE after getting your comments.

catch: Thanks but really I didn't do that much, Have a great weekend!

hnb: If they would have been in the same room together, the reporter would have probably choked the crazy lady to death. I have never seen an interview pick up so much steam. Thanks so much for popping in.

michael: The ACLU totally backs these wackos. Although it isn't surprising they do make strange bedfellows as they curse many people and causes that are the bulk of ACLU lawsuits.

phlegmfatale said...

God bless you. Those of us who couldn't be there with you stand with you in spirit.

:P fuzzbox said...

Thanks phlegmmy. Over 300 people came and made sure that these wackos crap were not heard nor seen by the family. Texas stands strong. The Patriot Riders stated that they have not seen a city support them as much as in Lubbock. I am happy for that. They are a great bunch of people and their support of these families are unflinching.

That's wonderful Fuzz! Good for you and Big D.

Those people are completely psycho. At least for however few there are like that there are many more good folks who'll stand up against them. I think that Fox newswoman would have beat her ass if they were in the same room. I know many people complain that the media is too liberal, but I don't know... that made me feel good to see that newswoman so worked up in the defense of others.

:P fuzzbox said...

I would have loved to see the news woman snatch that crazy lady bald headed.

jafabrit said...

that is really fantasti! and such a reminder that there are some decent people who will stand up to religious bigots and hatemongers.

:P fuzzbox said...

jafabrit: There were about 300 good folks that showed up to combat a handful of these crazies. It does do a heart good. Thanks so much for popping in.
